The Spring Festival of 2020 is bound to go down in history in a very unique way. As the nation prepares to celebrate the Chinese New Year, Wuhan is in an emergency situation, where a new and highly contagious coronavirus has broken out, eating away at human lungs with impunity and threatening innocent lives. And the virus, which accompanies people as they travel, has spread across the country and around the globe, with anxiety, panic, city closures and quarantines ensuing. This public health emergency is challenging our country's emergency response capabilities. The Chinese government has mobilized a national effort to combat the disaster, but so far there is no clear indication that the spread of the epidemic has been halted, and effective treatments are still being worked out. There is no doubt that this disaster will have a huge and far-reaching impact on our society and economy.  

In the wake of the epidemic, many social elites are worried about the country and the people, and they have been making statements, pointing out problems and offering advice and suggestions. Among them, there are economists who predict the macroeconomic trend and put forward the idea of macro-control policies, and there are also management scientists who are concerned about the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs and enterprises, and call for the support of all walks of life to help them out of the difficult situation. Unlike the existing macro- or micro-level discussions, I try to analyze the impact of the disaster from another perspective, that is, from the industry perspective, to examine the impact of the new coronavirus on a number of industries and put forward coping strategies. I believe that this meso-industry perspective will be helpful for the government to understand the differences between industries when formulating relevant policies, so as to formulate more "accurate" industrial policies, and for entrepreneurs to understand the development trend of the industry, to see the right direction, and to find a timely and suitable strategy for themselves.

Shaanxi Youth Entrepreneurship Mentor Association, taking young people's entrepreneurship as an important part of its own research work, has set up an interdisciplinary team of mentors to carry out in-depth research on a number of key industries in the national economy. Over the past few years, the results have been remarkable. We firmly believe that through the powerful grip of industry research, the Mentor Association will be able to become a real entrepreneurial counseling group rooted in Shaanxi and facing the whole country in the near future.

We are pleased to see that each team has been paying close attention to their own industry, combining the industry knowledge they have accumulated over the past year to carefully analyze the possible industry impacts of this public health incident and effective coping strategies.
